Loft Insulation

What is loft insulation?

Mineral wool insulation is used to fill the space between and over the joists in your loft or attic. This prevents your home’s heat from rising and escaping via your roof. In any case, it’s like a big warm blanket that inhibits the flow of heat from your home to the outside world.

Why is loft insulation needed?

It helps you save money on your utility expenses. If your insulation is installed to the recommended thickness of 270mm, you might save up to 25% on your energy costs. That works out to around £225 for a detached home or £120 for a mid-terrace home. The value of your home is increased by good insulation. Increasing the EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) of your property from band G to E, or from band D to B, may add more than £14k to its sale price (again, on average). Insulation that is properly put has the potential to benefit your health. Insulation can be squished down by an improperly installed loft floor, which can cause problems. With proper insulation, a detached house can minimize CO2 emissions by up to 80 kg per year. Reducing CO2 emissions (your carbon footprint) means you’re contributing to global carbon reduction efforts.
